Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists to Open Surgery Center, Consolidate Three Offices
Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists (NWOS) is consolidating its three downtown office sites into two floors in the new Spokane Integrated Medical Plaza at 601 West 5th Avenue. The group will also open a surgery center in the building with six operating rooms where physicians will perform day surgeries. Construction will be completed in early March and the new building will open for patients on March 15th.
With over 20 orthopaedic physicians and physician assistants and more than 300 years collective experience, NWOS offers injury prevention, care and rehabilitation for nearly every musculoskeletal condition.
Our new building and services will make NWOS one of the most comprehensive and largest orthopaedic centers between Seattle and Minneapolis, said Mark Olson, M.D., President.
The new building will allow NWOS to occupy the entire fourth floor (17,500 usable square feet) for physician offices and exam rooms. The surgery center will occupy a similar amount of space on the fifth floor. NWOS is also leasing 2,500 square feet on the first floor to provide magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services. The new building offers ample parking with approximately 350 spaces in the attached garage.
The new space will allow greater interaction among the 15 physicians and five physician assistants that normally work in the downtown offices. The group will retain its offices on the Northside and in the Valley. The space will offer state-of-the art digital x-ray machines with virtually instantaneous imaging capabilities. The operating rooms on the fifth floor will be equipped for all types of orthopaedic surgeries that do not require an overnight stay and for pain management services. The group is also implementing an electronic medical record system to enhance and protect patient information.
NWOS feels the new facility gives patients numerous benefits. For instance, patients requiring surgery or pain management procedures will experience staff efficiency with operating rooms devoted solely to orthopaedics and pain management. The new x-ray equipment in the clinics offers lower dosages of radiation than most conventional x-ray machines. Patients will also have access to state-of-the-art MRI equipment with the latest software and processors. Finally, patients x-rays and MRI studies will be instantly available to other consulting physicians throughout the community through Stentor, a community-based digital x-ray storage system.
